Sturdy, simple and stylish. The Gatsby has a touch of class and a retro twist with its drop bars and brown leather trim. Nothing but a simple steel frame in cool white, set off by retro track bars with brown Deda tape, which matches nicely with the Spa Cycles full leather saddle (Australian cowhide), leather toe straps and Duro Fixie Pops tyres in Downtown Billy Brown.

This machine looks great, but it’s a sweet ride as well. Cartridge bearings in the bottom bracket and headset; XLC levers and Shimano Tiagra brakes; running on Weinmann wheels; and powered by a good old English Sturmey Archer single speed crankset complete with chainguard to keep your tweeds clean.

There are steel toe clips on XLC caged pedals to keep your feet secure should you flip the rear wheel round and go fixed. But it runs just as well with the freewheel if fixed is not your thing. KMC chain and a set of chain tensioners sit nicely in the track fork ends, making sure everything runs just so. A Great Gatsby indeed.

Frame & Forks: Hi-Ten steel

Size: 57cm (top tube centre to centre), 53cm (seat tube centre to centre)

Wheels: Weinmann DP18 wheels 700c with 24c Duro Fixie Pops tyres in brown

Gears: Singlespeed / fixed with flip-flop hub

Dropouts: Track fork ends with chain tensioners

Brakes: Shimano Tiagra caliper front and rear; XLC levers

Chainset: Sturmey Archer single speed with chain guard. KMC chain

Extras: Leather saddle; leather toe straps, steel toe clips; Deda bar tape; cartridge bearings in bottom bracket and headset
